I’m no hardware engineer but watching the really nerdy hardware talks at re:Invent are really fun.

I’ve been radio silent on attending re:Invent this year, I was scheming the surprise some friends from the hospital. Mission accomplished last night at the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere. (Amazing.)

Best swag is the AWS BuilderCards deck to go with the @jeffbarr.bsky.social card he gave me last year. 😀

Friendsgiving with friends of over 30 years. One is a high school English teacher. Of course AI in homework writing came up.

Her: “You can tell. You get to know their voice on low stakes writing. Then they suddenly know how to use a semicolon and the word “moreover”, no freaking way.”

🤣

Stayed up to watch the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Sometimes with late races I’ll record them but have to avoid the internet to not see who won.

Looks like that somehow worked in reverse this time. 😂 #F1

It’s 8:42pm on a Saturday night and I’m watching a documentary on YouTube about Python.

Let it never be said that I don’t know how to party any more.

It is funny, I am sitting here building AWS Lambda functions in Rust using Claude Code and I feel like I am really programming again.

I think after all these years I was getting bored with directly cutting code, since the vast majority of it were things I had written before.

So the Bengals challenged a non scoring play that resulted in a Bears TD.

Like, they didn’t score, and OUR challenge got them a TD.

This is the most Bengals thing I have ever seen. 40+ years of fandom and they continue to surprise.

My son could care less about baseball but he loves himself a map. I told him to look up the MLB blackout region map and he’s enthralled.

The Siri ui with the glow around the edge of the phone is delightful.

The service itself… notsomuch.

I am curious to see what memory bugs remain practical on iOS with MIE and typed allocators. The fact that memory tags are enforced even in kernel access to userspace memory is going to make use-after-free and buffer overflows extremely hard. security.apple.com/blog/memory-...

Huge game in Columbus today. The flyover F-16s just screamed over my house, two minutes later we see them on tv over the Shoe.

If you need me I’ll be over there in the corner crying.
