Excuse a small glow of local pride as I celebrate Sheringham station's Grade Ii listing . (I'm so old I remember when it was the actual station, not a heritage site - but Sheringham still has an actual railway station if you want to visit!)

Sheringham and Weybourne rail stations given Grade II listings
The stations are given the listed status as part of work to mark 200 years of the modern railway.

The town is getting from the Government £20m across a ten-year period, but a key condition of the scheme is that the community shapes how the money is invested in Grimsby (Contains affiliate links)

Steve Keen and Richard Murphy take time out to dismantle the money myths. Double-entry accounting shows what really happens when banks create money and governments run deficits. If economics taught reality instead of dogma, austerity would be unthinkable.

Cleethorpes, 1976

Two Class 114 DMUs wait for their next duties

I remember 1976 being a little sunnier than this photo suggests, but at least there’s blue skies today. So far…

And on that note, I’m off to the seaside. If anyone needs me I’ll be in the club 🍻

Lots of lovely views of Grimsby, posted in 1911 to Miss Bowes in Gainsboro:
Arrived here alright. We have been with some boys from Gainsboro who know you. Cannot get to know their names. It is hot. Love from E.

What a grand cover to the 1950 Official Guide to Margate, the resort on the Kent Coast. #holidays #illustration @seasideferry.bsky.social

Margate Official Guide 1950 : Borough of Margate Publicity Committee : 1950 : cover. A rather fine 1950 guide to the Kent seaside resort of Margate, issued by the Borough's Publicity Committee and including the neighbouring Cliftonville, Westbrook, Westgate-on-Sea and Birchington. It contains the usual array of information as to the borough's then many holiday attractions as well as pages of adverts for local services, hotels and accomodation.

This lovely 'aerial' view of the town and it's beaches is sadly uncredited.

Well, that was fun! And I can now say I've performed on the same stage as ABBA! Lovely to be at #BrightonDome talking about Art Deco - it's a building of many layers, all of them fascinating
