It’s those investments that create companies that create jobs.

If the the associated taxes become excessive in comparison to other countries, investment in Canada will be reduced & even more jobs will be lost.

Fair or not, that’s how it works & no federal budget can alter that.

In Canada people earning $300K+ have a marginal tax rate of up to 50%.

The wealthiest make money by investing in assets vs salary so their wealth is not “income” until they sell it, when it subject to capital gains tax.

The budget includes an increase in those taxes, however

AFAIK it refers to a reduction in the *growth of direct spending (to < 1%) & operational budget cuts, not transfer payment cuts, roughly $400Mil by the end of the decade.

Our rich uncle just cut us off to the tune of $60 - $100 Billion (ish) yearly - no matter what we do it’s going to hurt.

I’m not sure I wouldn’t rather have a weak PP (which he is) than some even crazier fool that gets away from Carney’s basically conservative budget by going even further right.

We are being faced with a new reality :

We’ve allowed Canada to become “less” in nearly every economic sense by relying on an Uncle Sam who’s now revealed as perverted.

Anyone expounding that fixing this can be painless is… ill informed.

One can argue specifics, methodologies for partisan purposes but that is the reality.

Stats say he’ll be better in his first full year back, but then if there is a lockout…

He’s gambling he’ll have a great ‘26 and either there will be no lockout, or, post lockout will be at least as lucrative is ‘27 would have been.

He must really want this year in Toronto is all I can say.
