I'm interested in water resource management in San Diego County, in California, and in the other Colorado River Basin states. My handle "GrokSurf" is from my blog (https://groksurf.com/) & has no connection to the Musk abominations prefixed with "Grok."

“As far as we can tell, this is one of, if not the first time, that we’ve seen a full-on air pollution crisis caused by a river, especially one so close to the community,”

River turbulence can push toxic pollutants into the air
Levels of hydrogen sulfide gas soared near a raging section of the Tijuana River in San Diego, exposing residents to potentially harmful air pollution.

At first glance you had me thinking that could be a painted scene from your garden, perhaps the one you had here in California. Had. :-(
Thanks all, for adding necessary context to this post. Much appreciated.
I wasn't aware of those allegations about the author. But what about the sources cited in that article?
I think it's a little careless of them to post something like this publicly without including an "about" page to give more detail about how the forecast model tool works (I recall hearing something about satellite observations) and a "contact us" link for those seeking more information.

Detroit's ghost streams: Maps of hidden waterways combat city's flooding problem
Buried waterways in Detroit increase flood hazards, and mapping efforts are underway to raise awareness and reduce risks.

"Rather than basing water releases on reservoir levels, it would base the amount released from the system's two major reservoirs on the amount of water flowing in the river. The new concept would be more responsive as river flows become more variable."

A conceptual breakthrough has emerged for the Colorado River's future
After months of stalemate, glimmers of hope have emerged for consensus on a new plan to manage the shrinking Colorado River.

"There is at least some reason to believe the states will steer the Colorado River away from collapse or court. For all of their disagreements, state water negotiators seem to be on the same page about one thing: keeping their situation out of the Supreme Court."

As deadline looms for new Colorado River plan, what happens if there isn’t one?
California and six other states that use water from the Colorado River are nearing a 2026 deadline to come up with new rules for sharing shrinking supplies.
