While Grue will eat any sapient being, the ones they have a specific interest in are powerful ones.
For an entity that processes far more than just the calories from that it devours, the stronger the being, the more fuel for that ravenous furnace.

the more I look at media I grew up with the more I realize just how much media I was exposed to had People Getting Eaten in it.
I imagine most of it was naive and the genuine intent was to be frightening, but you cannot convince me there weren't some freaks pulling the strings with its prevalence.
