Georgia Tech researchers have received NASA funding to support the Europa Clipper mission. Launched in 2024, the spacecraft is expected to reach Jupiter’s orbit in 2030 in order to investigate the planet’s icy moon #Europa.

The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale was developed in 1969 by Georgia Tech alum Herbert Saffir (CE 1940) and meteorologist Robert Simpson. It classifies hurricanes by sustained wind speed, from Category 1 to Category 5.

New Paper Alert | Georgia Tech researchers developed a mathematical formula to predict the size of lakes that form on melting ice sheets. They discovered that lake depth and span are linked to the topography of the ice sheet. Their findings were published in @natcomms.nature.com.
