I started to write about respiratory infections and the nose, so of course I had to catch one that delayed everything for weeks. But here it is, my take on a long-standing argument with my mother and the cool science that resolved it for both of us.

I'm writing about the nose this week. This is not what I had in mind, but I had to see it. Poor kitty!

A research team demonstrated an atom of antimony can be used to store data for use in quantum computations that it is better protected from errors than a standard qubit of data. This step brings us one step closer to realizing error detection and correction in quantum systems. #quantumcomputing

Biofilms scare me: cells “dying for the colony”, shield others to cause persistent infections. These types of intrinsic AMR need new approaches: semi-synthetic antibiotics, peptide-inspired polymers, nano-therapies, NO-releasing, hydrogels & coatings.

Someone I just met asked me about R&D. We aligned on the value of disease prevention, but the conversation derailed into conspiracy "medicine" and rejecting evidence as the basis for decisions. How/do you engage someone whose beliefs are purely emotional?
