The arrest of Don Lemon is textbook fascism—a brazen attempt to silence reporting on a criminal regime. Stand up for Don, because our rights stand and fall with those of courageous journalists throughout this country.

Autocratic regimes hate the free press. They hate journalism because they don’t want to be held accountable. These Minnesota journalists are being targeted because journalism has prevented this administration from doing even more insane things in Minnesota. Remember it was video that proved lying …

They arrested Don Lemon. This is retribution.
Years of hostility from the Trump circle toward a journalist who called them out.
Instead of accountability for a killing in Minneapolis, DOJ went after the press.
Stand with Don Lemon.
Stand with the Constitution.
Stand with a free press.

New survey from Pew 🧵

Trump's approval is down to 37. He's 24 points underwater.

Only 27% of Americans support most/all of Trump's policies.

By two-to-one margins, Americans say the Trump administration has made their life worse, not better.

Trump's showing signs of slipping, even with Republicans:

Only 66% of Rs are extremely/somewhat confident Trump has the mental fitness to do the job.

Only 52% of Rs say Trump respects our country's democratic values.

Only 42% of Rs say Trump acts ethically in office.

Republicans also increasingly want members of Congress to stand up to Trump when they disagree with him.

61% of Republicans say members of Congress do not have an obligation to support Trump if they disagree with him. That's up 6 points compared to last year.

"I love the poorly educated," Trump declared in 2016. A decade later, MAGA has manifested that love into policy. They're purging scientists from govt; defunding R&D; and blocking the best & brightest from around the world from studying, teaching, working, or founding businesses in the United States.

Trump seems to be looking for new spokesmen to defend the street executions his agents are doing in Minneapolis.

Why not hire from the talent pool available in a country that's done a lot of street executions lately?

The country is Iran. I outline a few Iranian officials Trump should consider.

A quick point. If you had a friend that whined and complained and was always playing “victim” as much as Donald does, I’d be willing to bet you wouldn’t be his friend for long. Such a whiney belly aching baby.

We did not properly punish the confederates. We did not properly punish the insurrectionists on January 6th. We have to punish ICE.

They can’t be allowed to slink back into their communities quietly. Expose them. Arrest them. Convict them. Imprison them.

I disagree with Axelrod. “Abolish ICE” is not “defund the police.” Defund the police was stupid & wrong. But Americans don’t view ICE as law enforcement. They view ICE as masked thugs who are the antithesis of law enforcement & who have no place here. Abolish ICE is 💯 the correct thing to say & do.
