Aukes’ Syndrome is an uncommon condition in which a patient conceives and gestates a fetus without prior coitus or fertilization. During gestation the fetus is a genetic clone of the parent, having no unique DNA, and remains in the womb until successfully fertilized by a partner.

Aukes’ Syndrome in Medieval Lenland
While Aukes’ Syndrome occurs globally, it has the highest rate of occurrence in modern day Lenland, with over one in eighty Lennish women experiencing an Aukes’ pregnancy before a normal one.
The causes of this exceptional regional rate have been largely explained by modern science, but in pre-modern times they had no way of knowing the underlying biological mechanisms that led to Aukes’. As such, the ancient Lennish could only understand the condition through mythology and folklore.
Commonly known as Immaculate Conception by the medieval Lennish, Aukes’ Syndrome was thought to be a blessing bestowed on the virtuous. Aukes’ can only occur in individuals who’ve never had children before, so the condition was heavily associated with virginity and chastity in ancient Lennish cultures. [...]
