An article I wrote last century, in which I argued that Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass were as significant to 1960s pop music as the Beatles and surveyed the many, many Tijuana Brass imitators that followed in their wake.

I look forward to watching the recording of this. Two incredible biographers discussing a fascinating person and a brilliant craft.
Tonight at NYU! I’ll be speaking with Lance Richardson about his outstanding new book, TRUE NATURE, a biography of Peter Matthiessen.

These two biographies were both excellent reads. I especially enjoyed @mirinfader.bsky.social’s because of the nostalgia I felt while reading it. #biography

During the WS, Dave Hollins texted Gary Varsho.

"Varshy, I love it when I hear Daulton’s name. It makes my heart feel good."

"Daulton" in this case is Daulton Varsho, CF for Toronto.

He's named after Darren Daulton. Now, he's honoring him on the biggest stage: www.inquirer.com/phillies/dau...
Darren Daulton’s legacy lives on in the World Series with the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho
Gary Varsho met Daulton 30 years ago with the Phillies. “Dutch” made such an impact that he named his son after him. Now, the catcher’s namesake is playing on the game’s biggest stage.

I will happily work as an underling when you become commissioner. I just want to be close to this marvelous game. What an incredible postseason.
That game 7 is why I want to be commissioner. Baseball at its best, as it was last night, needs to be nurtured, protected, and promoted to a new generation of fans, who will learn how the game marries the exquisite and the excruciating in unparalled and unexpected ways if just let it.
