The Spooky Season has officially begun, and with it, one of my favorite annual pastimes: #31DaysOfHalloween, in which I, and many others, watch, review, and, at times, recommend some Horror movies/TV shows. So, follow along for the month to see what is worth watching.
On #Day11 of the #31DaysOfHalloween, an indie found footage flick, #TheGlenarmaTapes. A group of Irish students go off to the woods for a school trip & find a cult performing some sort of ritual involving, ofc, human sacrifices. Now, the group must find a way to survive the night. 3.5/5🎭
For #Day10 of the #31DaysOfHalloween, another zombie property with #MarvelZombies. The miniseries is basically one long animated movie that alters quite a bit from the source material, & I'm not sure it's for the better. The #WhatIf episode was far better, tbh. Plus, it all feels pointless. 2.5/5🎉
Honestly, even with looking over my initial thoughts about #CountdownOnPrime, I'm still surprised it got canceled. If the biggest company in the States can't make a show like this work, I'm not sure that says anything good about the state of the industry.
Genuinely not sure what to make of #CountdownOnPrime. It's a pretty generic cop drama that seems like it's two miniseries/seasons shoved together with a cliffhanger conclusion. Like, it has a good cast, but everything else is generic & uninspired. Decent background noise. 2/5 🚛
Sometimes, you just need to spend a few hours with a great book, a good cup of coffee, and a sweat treat. Been awhile since I have had the chance to do so, and it was much needed. #Book
On #Day9 of #31DaysOfHalloween, a slightly higher budget zombie flick, #FestivalOfTheLivingDead. There are some recognizable faces, which is its main highlight. Story felt rushed & convoluted with questionable choices all around. Plus, don't tie your film to THE Zombie movie. 2.5/5🎪
For #Day8 of #31DaysOfHalloween, an indie film with all the hallmarks of such, #ZombieConVol1 has an intriguing premise & decent execution even with its technical issues & limited resources. An example that the indie filmmaking spirit is alive & and well, though. 3/5🧟♂️
For #Day7 of #31DaysOfHalloween, a psychological thriller/folk horror film. #TheDamned is about a fishermen group in Iceland trying to survive the harsh conditions. This is complicated by a shipwreck that brings about bad tidings/ spirits to their shore. A damn good movie. 4/5🎣
For #Day6 of #31DaysOfHalloween, the latest entry into the #VHS franchise, #VHSHalloween continues the trajectory of being better than the last installment since moving to @shudder.com. Definitely one to watch for this season/month. 4/5🎃 hablandotodomedia.com/2025/10/06/r...
It's #Day5 of #31DaysOfHalloween, and I watched the @Tubi original #Match. It's an exploitation, indie film with some low budget, decent kills, and stars Humberly Gonzalez, and that's all the highlights. Outside of that, the movie is a bit of an uneven, forgettable mess. 2/5🤳
On #Day4 of #31DaysOfHalloween, watched #StrangersChapter2. This middle part of the trilogy seems to be giving the killers backstory, which sucks. The point of the Strangers was that we don't know why they do this. It's just unjust violence. Giving a reason lessens that impact and purpose. 1/5🚑
So, #TheComicShopSeries is fully available & ready to watch on YT. Six funny episodes with some great guest spots, all lovingly mocking nerd culture in a workplace comedy. Definitely a series to watch & support if you're a nerd or just like funny shit. youtube.com/playlist?lis...
For #Day3 of #31DaysOfHalloween, saw #TheLongWalk in theaters. I couldn't imagine this film would live up to the hype, but somehow, the accolades weren't enough. If it weren't for Sinners, this would be my #1 film of the year. Go watch this one. In theaters. Now. Just an incredible movie. 5/5🚶🏿♂️
For #Day2 of #31DaysOfHalloween, watched #Wayward on @netflix. Might be odd to call it Horror, but it certainly has elements of the genre. Just wish the story was more developed since the show feels like the 1st Act instead of a full story. 2.5/5🌲 hablandotodomedia.com/2025/10/02/r...
For #Day1 of #31DaysOfHalloween, a throwback/homage to the slashers of the 70s/80s, #TheNightOfTheReaper is an entertaining flick that has just enough mystery to keep most engaged. The killer design is pretty average, but overall, it's a good watch with some solid kills and special effects. 4/5📼

I really enjoyed the story, characters, and action of #Trigger on @netflix. However, I do think the intended message and themes got a bit muddled when the legitimately downtrodden and abused people managed to get justice denied them through violent means and guns. Still an interesting watch. 3.5/5🔫
While I doubt it will win any awards or get the attention other animated shows have received, #Krapopolis is an entertaining animated series that manages to be engaging and funny within the conventions of the genre which is more than a lot of shows. 3/5🏺 hablandotodomedia.com/2025/09/29/r...
So, #HouseOnEden is pretty much what you would expect from a low-budget, 1st time filmmaker. Honestly, I doubt it would've gotten as much attention or box office without KallMeKris' involvement. Still, it's a complete film if a bit boring. It's enough to merit a sophomore attempt. 2/5🏚
A look at a lesser known artistic collective, #ASCOWithoutPermission has some, unfortunate, relevance to our modern political, social, and artistic landscape. A documentary worth the watch. 4/5🤮 hablandotodomedia.com/2025/09/25/r...
Season 4 of the CW family/legal drama, #FamilyLaw, is more of the same as past seasons. However, I will give credit to any original scripted series that makes it past season 2. Bring back television! Oh, and the show ends on a pretty funny cliffhanger that hopefully leads into season 5. 3.5/5⚖️
Based on a true story, #ThePenguinLessons is a heartwarming story about a broken, disillusioned man who finds purpose, joy, & life again with the help of a lost penguin, a classroom of young students, & the lives of Argentinian people during a great crisis. A bit sanguine, but not too bad. 4/5🐧
Some of the best animation & action scenes put to screen, #DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba still has some of the same basic story problems virtually every shonen series suffers from, especially with its attempts at "moral complexity." 3.5/5🩸 hablandotodomedia.com/2025/09/22/r...
Really wanted to love #Necaxa on @fxnetworks.com, but the attempt to copy the Wrexham "underdog" narrative success just didn't quite work for me. Trying to win a championship when you are already in the middle of the pack in the top league doesn't have the same juice. 3/5⚽️
Won't go as far as to say it is a generic horror film, but #TheTwin doesn't really add much to even its niche genre outside of maybe having a father be the focus of a grief/trauma possession instead of the usual classic "mom." Still, mostly an okay movie. The bad CGI/VFX didn't help either. 2.5/5👦🏼
