I'm not seeing enough folks chattin' about the Saint Heron Library. It's a digital archive of Black Literature founded by Solange Knowles. This is the EXACT thing we've needed and it's all FREE. Digital Preservation & Archival is extremely important! May this post align me with that side of BlueSky.

The "Starving Artist" is a myth. I will obliterate that ideology from the arts community, especially when it comes to the kinfolk. It IS possible to create a sustainable career as an artist - because I've seen it. That comes with diligence, discipline, & making the right connections.

Piracy is the kryptonite to this greedy-ass corporations.
Too many subscriptions, too many live service models, too many streaming apps. Entertainment IS a luxury, but it shouldn't cost THIS damn much. We can pool our $$$ to support creatives/artists directly through other means: Patreon, etc.

Leota Adebayo is one of my favorite characters on Peacemaker. Unfortunately, I feel like she's a relegated to the "magical negro" role. The final few moments of the most recent episode were wild to witness, & I wonder if James Gunn has any Black folks in that writer's room.

I've seen two horror films starring David Jonsson recently: Alien Romulus and The Long Walk. In both he played a "magical negro" and in both, his confidence/authority were perceived as a threat. This feels some new-age type of racism, but I can't fully articulate how, just yet.

For the past decade, I've noticed white artists utilizing a technique called Pity Marketing to make $$. From the days of deviantArt, Tumblr, & now in this modern age of TikTok; this phenomenon seems to be at an all-time high. I think...I might draw a comic about it, showcasing the different types.
