Do anything at Planck Length - even measurement - and you're concentrating enough energy in a small enough space that you cause black holes. Neat!

Morning frost tracing delicate patterns on the roof of my car. Nature is wonderful, it can even make a Kia interesting to look at.

Looks like: something crawly.
Is: a leaf.

Stretch and roll - kitty cats love a nice sunspot, and Everleigh is no exception. This is on our dishwasher in the middle of our kitchen. I kept worrying that she was going to fall off, but she knows what she's doing (at least in this instance).

Two pictures with a believe-it-or-not brief description of my process for these kind of photos I find in the wild.

Before and after.(Ok, it's after, then before, but no one says it that way).Anyways, little tread things on the sidewalk, plus almost-sunset light. Process: I take a photo on my phone with the quality set to raw, which gives me a large, unprocessed file. Which is why the original looks really flat and gray - there's more information in the file than the screen can really show. Next, I import whichever individual picture I like into Adobe Lightroom. In Lightroom, I adjust the brightness and contrast across different tonal zones of the imageOn some images, I do so for different areas within the frame. For this one, I selected and performed adjustments on the sky and foreground. I also do color balance and saturation adjustments, and adjustments to sharpness, clarity and dehaze.I crop the image. If it's for Instagram, like this one is, I crop it into a square, a 1:1 ratio. I have Lightroom autocorrect the perspective - essentially it straightens out the image and squares things up the best it can. On this image, the only things I used automated processes on were those adjustments and the selection of the sky and foreground. For many images, I will select things myself using gradients or brushes, but the automated sky select works pretty well without looking weird. For all the adjustments to how the image actually looks, I'm poking the sliders up and down myself. Oh and finally, I use the vignette tool to darken the edges. I've always done it. My hands still remember how to move to burn in the edges under an enlarger...but now it's just a slider on a touchscreen. Much quicker, but not as fun as using a piece of cardstock with a ragged hole in the middle of it in a dark room.

Sometimes, if he's very happy or excited, BOTH of Burton's ears go up. I had an appointment after work yesterday, then errands. So when I got home, he was really excited. While my family members don't love being whined at when I am not there, it's good to know that I am loved.

Here's Estella, in her natural habitat, sitting atop a kitchen appliance. She looks pretty pissed off here, but she was actually in a pretty good mood.

So we have pet snails. It started with Jade (second picture), then Salt (and others like Salt, Tango and I forget). These little semi-transparent baby snails are from a Jade/Salt coupling.

Look! They have tiny little polka dots! Never noticed until we magnified them!

If I ever found a loose brick or stone like this I would do the same.

More stuff I found on the ground:

The McD's wrapper was in the Hardee's parking lot - someone's been cheating.

The instructions are from a kids work bench by OOOK. No idea whether the company was founded by the Librarian from Unseen University.

No other entertaining notes.

The only time I have ever felt the need to apologize for being white is when racist trashballs do something shitty and try to associate me with it because I'm white too. The worst examples of the white race are its biggest champions.

I'm broke. ESPECIALLY this year.... It's still the giving season though. I'm pretty good in the kitchen, so instead of getting some $10 gift card or some shit, my people are getting $10 worth of flour, sugar, butter and various other ingredients, artfully assembled. It's going to be a win-win.

This is my special boy Burton, again. He's laying in a pile of pillows and blankets on a chair in the living room. His up ear is up, his down ear is down, he's had dinner and his family is home all day because it's Christmas break. Life is good.
