But also the undoubted highs of that album (Dog Days are over, Rabbit Heart and always always Cosmic Love).... God on symphony of lungs they become almost transcendent.

But also making Kiss With a Fist a country barnstormer and Girl With One Eye a campy baroque vampire makes those songs work as tongue in cheek in a way again the original didn't quite manage.

The original arrangement of hurricane drunk makes it a pretty little song whereas it's actually the first deeply confessional song she writes (anticipating in that way something she wouldn't fully engage with until High as Hope and Dance Fever)

So I'm relistening to all the Florence and The Machine albums this month. One change: Symphony of Lungs over the original Lungs. The songs are so much stronger in the Symphony arrangement (in particular the paired down version of Hurricane Drunk lets its truly devastating song writing shine)

Season 1 is a bit of a dud. It finds its stride in season 2. Season 3 and 4 are brilliant.

We're not even getting INTO the fact that his party's policies have made going to the ER highly risky for pregnant American citizen women (and that in some cases they won't in fact get the emergency medical care they need).
