What is 'art'? Art (noun): person, place or thing. Thing. Not all paintings are art. Singing or dancing can be art, but not always. Art evokes feelings in a recipient. A sunset does too and is not art. Art is: the artist evoking the spirit in a recipient. And art must be received. Art is a quantum.

Here's a photo from my garden that I snapped exactly 7 years ago today. The blue green pigmentation is made by applying raw copper powder and oxidizing it in situ. The black and red are iron oxides applied dry rub. The sealant is shellac in alcohol, followed by a layer of wax.

A plaque symbolic of the pelvis, a universal life force.

Work in progress. I've been sculpting this face as a series going back at least four years. From, most recently, my custom gesso recipe. Notice the ten-circles layout method which I prefer.

Sharing a fresh #sculpting idea I just figured out. Sometimes, you need a sanding cylinder. I applied a generous layer of label adhesive glue to the backside of a small piece of sandpaper and let it dry. Then wrap the sandpaper around a wooden dowel.

I can't say that the bowling ball sculpting mount is ideal for all situations, and I'm continually experimenting. This mount 👇 is the one that I am working with at this moment in time.

I have been experimenting with a custom rotational mount for sculpting, using a discarded bowling ball and mounting the workpiece using an adhesive encaustic medium.

The firearm was a Mauser 30-06 which is a big game hunting rifle. Hunting rifles can be legally bought and sold, paperless without registration and without background checks , on the 'private sale' secondary market in Utah.
