That's some solid '80(s) music right there....

I've always wondered because there are a couple of places on the south side that one would have a very comparable view. Both the 81 and 83 road (Goat Marsh, Ape Cave, Red Rock Pass areas) could have been the location, so I've always been curious.

First time I've read the tale that mentions the 26 road. That adds up with what I know of the forest roads around the mountain and the view beyond the Pinto.
Learned something new, thanks!

I've read many versions of Mr. Lasher's adventure 5/18/80 (none of which have told me 'where' of all the forest service roads this photo was taken), can't wait to read what you've got on it.

Willamette. Tourist = Will-a-mitt, with emphasis on the first syllable. Native = Wil-lam-ett, emphasis on the second syllable.

"I love this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it!"

.....and the whole view from the top of Windy Ridge, which is all of 5 miles away from the crater.
Blue sky over the crater of Mt.St.Helens, lush green ridges in the foreground obscure the lahars coming out of the crater and prevent you from seeing the bottom portion of the lava dome.

Okay...just 'WOW', Chris. Your archive has no limits, do they?
Though I think it was '76? the last time I tubed up there, these shots look just like I remember. Thank you 💖

A group of us teens would drive up to that 'turnaround' in the winter to sled and play in the snow.... so long ago.

Awesome, I'd say just one ridge closer than where I was standing when I took my shot. BTW, that hump/hill in front left is called Butte Camp Dome.

Today's view, and the first clear view I've had in days. She surprised me with her first dusting of snow from last weekend's wet weather.
Mt. St. Helens with just a dusting of snow at the very top south side.

Us old '60's hippies' still have it and know how to use it!

Thanks for the sane comment. And yes, same suspicions? but wanting the truth.

.....and I thought I liked you before! Hugs!

Harry.... and all of his cats.

My pleasure Chris, thanks for letting us play too.

And yet....no credit to the photographer. Stealing content for 'likes' is poor form.
Blocked.

Twice that I can recall. 1."Smart people don't like me". 2. "Washington is run by some really stupid people".

Not unlike J6, I'm shocked but not surprised the forest service page greeted me with.....
Screen shot of a federal government internet page for the Forest Service with an alert saying "

The Radical Left Democrats shut down the government. This government website will be updated periodically during the funding lapse for mission critical functions. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people.

For information on recreation site status on National Forest System lands, please visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/visit"

My experience has been that 'they' are like vegans, they can't wait to tell you that they are.

....we didn't know. Had no idea the power. We thought it'd be like what we saw from Hawaii... burp, puke, lava, slow... it'd be cool. Lawdy, were we wrong.

This morning's view, sporting a Lenticular cloud.
Mt. St. Helens, blue sky with fluffy white clouds.
