Pretty happy with the window. A good range of signings, lots of experience and a few players who will improve over time. Lane and O'Connor probably the stand out signings. Most importantly there's a good base to build from next summer. Would expect top half finish this season #readingfc
I personally think Yiadom may be past his best and Camara has never impressed but if keeping them provides a bit of depth and reduces the need to sign a huge number of other players I think that's a good thing
Important to remember we currently have 6 first team players under contract. If we let everyone out of contract go that is an entire squad that would need to be signed. Squad unity and cohesion has been a real asset and would be lost. The contracts offered today are sensible #readingfc
Couhig it is then, his first job has to be clear communication with the fans about his intentions with the academy etc. He's more than happy to talk at the moment let's hope it's the same if and when he takes over #readingfc
Outstanding result today. One thing to say about this squad is the resilience they show to keep bouncing back after each setback is incredible. A huge contrast to the squads from the last dark few years in the championship #readingfc
The feeling is one of "what's the point?". Absolutely zero progress is possible until Dai is gone. We should be thinking of this sale as great business and wondering what masterstroke Carey will pull off to replace Smith. Instead we're left once again looking to an exhausted academy #readingfc
No one would be surprised if more players leave before Monday's deadline, nor could anyone blame them. The others will follow out the door in the summer and the rotten football club will stagger on without much hope praying for a buyer #readingfc
Then Dai pulled the plug on Couhig (for whatever reason) and in doing proved he still has many to spend- he seemed to find the money to repay Couhig pretty easily- and now all those good foundations are being ripped out. We will look back on that squad as a massive what if in the future #readingfc
The biggest frustration is that things could have been so different. Carey and Bowen did a fantastic job of setting up something potentially special in the summer of 23 they appointed the right manager and made some outstanding signings. It was all there to kick on #readingfc
That winner came purely from the midfield losing their heads when Knibbs lost it. Wing and then Craig dove in and suddenly it's 4 on 3. Going to be a long second half of the season #readingfc
Knibbs is our most underrated player and is my player of 2024. It's no accident that our results and performances are better with him the middle. So important to the press and pops up with vital goals too
The football was the football.. But the waiving of wages so others could get paid first, fronting the media without having the answers, the belief in players like Femi and the empathy he had with the fans’ cause were signs of a thoroughly decent bloke. Gracias, Rubén. #readingfc
Absolutely gutted, not sure any individual has had as big an impact over the last 10 years. To have stuck with us as long as he did is testament to him. The football we played under him was as exciting and good to watch as it's ever been at times. He leaves a gaping hole in the club #readingdc
Camara's stock move at the moment seems to be cut back play the safe pass back into midfield. Needs a goal or something to give him confidence, at the moment he offers little. #readingfc
