Countryside staff have been cut to the bone by LA’s because of funding reductions. LA’s will hope to just ignore these problems if they can. Don’t let them! If walkers give up and paths are not used as a result, eventually they could get closed for ever!

30,000 blocked footpaths.

If you come across one, be sure to report to the relevant local authority. Many LA’s do not make it easy to find the footpaths officer’s contact details!

Hampsfell, above Grange-over-Sands in #Cumbria provides a good walking route with great views out to the coast and inland to the Lake District. An interesting feature is Hampsfell Hospice is a Grade II listed building. Walk details at www.happyhiker.co.uk/MyWalks/Cumb...

Located near Keld, Wainwath Falls is a wide, scenic waterfall on the River Swale. Though modest in height (just 1.5–3 metres), its charm lies in its tranquil setting beneath the limestone cliffs of Cotterby Scar.

A public footpath in #Ilkley is to be closed temporarily for safety reasons.

The order comes into effect at 7am on Monday, 29 September 2025, and is scheduled to remain in place until 7pm on 24 April 2026.

Not quite “in Ilkley” but close enough for the YP!

Park Fell and Simon Fell are less well known and little visited #YorkshireDales hills, yet this route up them , taking advantage of Access Land designation, provides great views. It can also be an alternative way to climb Ingleborough. See www.happyhiker.co.uk/MyWalks/York...

As my followers will know, I like a good pub and boy does the White Swan in Warenford qualify. During a recent fortnight in #Northumberland, I ate there several times. Not ‘pub grub’ but a top quality, varied menu at reasonable prices and great real ale. For a meal, book!

I’m not sure there are any specific rules and if there are some, I don’t make them, know who does or have ever seen them. As far as I know, it is just a bit of fun. No prizes so no advantage to ‘cheating’.

they have no chance. Therefore unless the public readily accept digital ID cards, #Labour have just ensured their loss of the next election, probably to Reform, given the dismal performance of the others. Digital ID cards will then be the least of our worries!

With Digital ID, Labour have put clear red (?) water between themselves and the other parties. They now have less than 4 years to implement and prove to everyone it is nothing to worry about. As IT things always take 10 times both in cost &time to work out than expected, I bet
