How many decades was Jane aware of those crimes, yet still wasn't vegan until the last 4 or 5 years?
The 'plant-based since the 60s' line sounds great, but is sadly not true

This was her final address to the world, a chance to cement her legacy in a lasting way for animal rights, and she chose not to mention veganism at all.

It's always a good thing when someone goes vegan, and doing it in your late eighties is fairly remarkable. However, since she read Singer decades ago, and knew all along about animal sentience, it begs the question "Why not sooner?"

So much misinformation going around about JG. This story that she was vegan since the 60s or 70s comes mostly from one erroneous source which has been repeated ad infinitum across the internet.
She said in a much more recent interview she went vegan during the pandemic.

The mechanism they use to justify oppressing and abusing their victims is the same mechanism people all over the world use to justify oppressing and abusing all kinds of sentient beings - mental gymnastics to objectify their victims and convince themselves they're "not people".
