We know residents are frustrated by the prolonged delay and poor condition of this highly visible site. The council has now met with senior officers and the developer and made clear that this situation is unacceptable.

Residents, local firm InSitu and geology students have started work to protect hundreds of homes potentially affected by land stability issues in St Leonards.

A network of sensors is being installed in the cliff to act as an early warning system.

A large amount of shingle was washed onto the lower promenade between Bottle Alley and Marina Pavilion following the high tide and strong winds over the weekend.

A contractor will be on site in the week beginning Monday 15 December to clear this. There will also be work done to clear the drains to
