The park gates are open. There is VERY limited park staff however, including those who would respond to safety concerns/emergencies.
The Welcome Center and park store at Kilauea Military Camp are open and staffed by us, the park partner, in the interim.

🌋Ongoing eruption at the summit of #Kīlauea Volcano is currently paused. Next episode of lava fountaining likely to begin towards the end of next week.

🌋Kīlauea’s summit region resumed inflation on Oct. 1st. Scientists with the USGS HVO calculate Episode 35 is likely to start between Oct. 17 & 21.

HAWAIʻI VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK - The estimated window for the start of the next episode of lava fountaining has been pushed back to between October 17 and 21.

Our Kai on the #Haleakalā 🌄 NP store frontline sent over pics of 2 friends on their 1st trip together. The lady in the black shirt said that this is her 1st national park, 1st passport book & first passport stamp! 🎉
It was her friend's 10th national park & that book will soon be full of stamps! 🌍

We (#HPPA) will join with the wonderful Friends of Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau NHP (FPOH) to donate funds to enable the reopening of the Royal Grounds & the Pu’uhonua during the Federal shutdown. 🤝
Our goal: help the park ensure the sacred grounds are protected & that visitors have an information resource.
