Appeasement is a #nervous-system response to power imbalance, compliance for survival when resistance feels unsafe. It’s collective, adaptive, and costly. Regulation helps us endure, but only dismantling oppressive #systems brings real safety and liberation.

Honoured to walk among thousand-year giants. Soil rich from millennia of decay and renewal; thick moss and lichen drape the trunks; fallen logs shelter species. 98% of #forests like this have been logged and shipped away in 100 years of #colonization on Vancouver Island.

Elders beyond humans
I didn’t grow up with reliable elders, so I turned to the land.
The forest, the stars, the owl at night, the rhythm of the sea,
they’ve become my teachers.
The land is our oldest ancestor. The stars are our kin.
When we listen, their wisdom awakens within us....

The Gift of Stillness

By the sea at sunset, the sky turns pink and pearl. Distant snowy peaks reflect in the still tide. Otters tumble, fish leap, a seal exhales, a hummingbird hovers like a prayer.

Stillness holds me. Life gathers here, playful, sacred and whole.

Our connection to our ancestors became an intellectual construct rather than a lived experience... The visceral, breathing, reciprocal relationship has been thinned to a mere echo. And in this thinning, we reinforce the very illusion that keeps us unmoored: the belief in our separability.
