Indescriptible portada de Mignola para Death in the Family que vamos a pasar a describir. En la parte superior izquierda, en pequeño, leemos: FROM THE DC VAULT Death in the Family ROBIN LIVES! #1 A continuación tenemos una composición en diagonal, es decir, tiene más fondo en negro sin nada que otra cosa. Pero en donde están dibujadas las cosas vamos si lo están. En la parte superior izquierda con fondo rojo tenemos algo que podemos elegir entre que sean huesos, barras de hierro o torreznos, quizá toas. Por allí también hay una calavera con un aspecto que solo podemos definir como: Me dejas muerta, chica. En el centro de la imagen tenemos un Joker con vestido de gala incluyendo sombrero de copa y monólogo. Se nota que está muy pensado porque la cara la han hecho siguiendo el diseño clásico. El diseño clásico de 'con un 6 y un 4 la cara de tu retrato'. A su izquierda hay un pavoroso animal nocturno que surje de cruzar un murciélago con un cerdo, así que imaginamos que cruza la noche haciendo GROMPF! Debajo está la cara de Batman, que tiene tantas sombras que parece que le hubieran hechado limón en el hemoal. También hay un símbolo de Batman debajo que puede ser de su pechera, de un grafitti o de un mural en un colegio cercano. Pero lo importante es que de ambos sale una luz grisácea que nos lleva a la parte inferior de la imagen, con un Robin con apariencia de zombie, un brazo de rojo hasta el codo y pinta de haber salido de una rave en la que ha intentado hacerle a alguien el Monchito. La cara está tan en sombras que directamente es negra. Así que quizá esté en una cabalgata de Reyes. En la parte inferior vemos fuego, casos y destrucción. O una hoguera de San Juan, quizá ambas. Todo lo demás está negro. Así que Mignola nos deja claramente transmitida la idea: Esto es una fiesta.
