William Good lived in #Hull and was the cook on the Kingston Peridot. He fell on board and was injured. He was put ashore at Reykjavik to have X-Rays and then be sent home by air. That accident saved his life. The Kingston Peridot was lost very soon after. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

The Hull trawler Kingston Peridot was off north-east Iceland on 26 January 1968. The weather was bad and another trawler was told that she had ice building up on the ship, and was moving east, no more contact was made. The Kingston Peridot was tragically lost with all hands. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

Blue plaque commemorating the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries at St. Barnabas Court on Hessle Road in #Hull. Very close to where the Victoria Hall once stood where the meetings happened leading to the greatest act of civil disobedience of the 20th century.

A ship's voyage may end at a port, but its journey continues forever in the hearts of those it touched.
The beginning of 1968, three trawlers lost with 58 men. We will never forget them.

The #Hull trawler St. Romanus sailed from St Andrews Dock on 10 January 1968 and the last contact was a radio telephone call that night by the skipper Jim Wheeldon to his wife. A search began on 13 January but she was never found and lost with all 20 men. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

People will celebrate new year tonight who may not be here if not for the countless lives saved by the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries. What those women achieved was phenomenal. They brought about radical change in health and safety law on deep sea fishing vessels and will never be forgotten.
