Admit 350 more out of state students or 1000 more in state students, and set aside those students’ tuition, and use that money to pay the buyout . That’s how absurdly expensive college is.

The 50,000,000 buyout seems like a lot of money to get rid of the worst coach in the ACC until you do the math. FSU could admit 350 out of state students or about 1000 more in state students, and 4 years of tuition would pay it off. Think about that.

It’s crazy, but 2 years ago Mike Norvell got a contract extension, partly because Alabama might hire him. A month ago, most Alabama fans wanted their coach fired and everyone thought FSU was back. 4 years ago many thought James Franklin would have been the best FSU hire, Dabo was best in ACC…

You’re probably right, but James Franklin is probably one of the top 20 coaches in America right now. Doubtful they can hire a coach that is better than the one they just fired. The only time it makes sense to fire someone mid season is complete incompetence or serious malfeasance.

Cignetti would never consider leaving Indiana mid season. It’s possible that his agent could have told PSU that he’d be interested, but even he would probably rather have Franklin stay until the end of the season in order to hold the recruits together. Franklin is an excellent recruiter. Seems weird

The only way firing James Franklin mid season makes any sense is if PSU has a handshake deal with Nick Saban. I doubt that’s the case. Every other top coaching candidate already has a job and would never leave their job mid season.
