We’ve made it to the end of the earth. Or at least Nordkapp. Which very much feels like the end of the earth.
Still light and 16°c at midnight.
Highest temperature ever recorded was 25.6°c. Today it’s expected to be around 25°.

World Environment Day, 5th June

Today we’re thinking about how GP practices can be aware and take action to protect our environment.
There is a whole book available to help practices and staff! Called Environmentally Sustainable Primary Care. Details at seesustainability.co.uk/book-sustain...
SEE Sustainability
Come and join other healthcare staff on the journey to achieve better outcomes for patients and staff, practice and planet.

Did the same and had a great diving beetle appear too! Go for it!

Yeah, got the first but the wife isnt keen.
The problem with expansion packs is gotta get them all…
healthpeopleplanet.bsky.social
Really looking forward to it too!
How many expansion packs for Forest Shuffle is it reasonable to buy? Asking for a friend 👀

Finding a great diving beetle in a homemade pond this morning is great. Feels like an extra bit of wildlife has found a home 💚

I didn’t know they can also fly - which is how they find new bodies of water (by seeing the moonlight reflecting).

Electric cars last longer on average than diesel cars. So shows the data based on MOTs.
An international team of researchers has estimated that an electric car will have a lifespan of 18.4 years, compared with 18.7 years for petrol and 16.8 years for diesels

I’m sure you dont! Was more a comment that it often is (perhaps more in the U.K.) uses more as a textbook than work of fiction.
As a story, it’s interesting but as a ‘guide to living’ is misplaced.

My biggest worry about LotF is it gets used as a learning piece for society behaviour - rather than a fictional story by a dystopic writer with an incredibly dark
and bleak outlook on life and society having (likely) had post war PTSD.
Its not research or evidence of how actual humans behave.

It’s a thorny issue to balance. I’d rather you, I (or anyone else) flew to the other side of the world once, visited a place for a month or two and enjoyed all there was to offer than weekly flights across Europe for a ‘weekend away’. Go once in a lifetime and enjoy it all in one go.

Tree planting, straightening and other maintenance in Yorkshire. Beautiful day for making a difference.
Good for my physical and mental health, good for the soul, good for air quality, good for the planet.

Heat pumps offer vast energy efficiency gains.

They are 4x more efficient than gas boilers.

It’s bonkers! ESP as nhs has about £170B and social care about £25B budgets from total U.K. spend of about £1.200B.
Expected spend to fix social care is about £5B - small in comparison with the total budget and even with the recent increase for the nhs.

One set of axis - it means it’s easier to see that all the models are broadly in agreement.

and have left Threads...
Insta should be up next, but is trickier as its one of the few ways to stay in touch with some of the younger generation of friends and family...
And then FB, but again, some of the community groups only have a FB page to contact and keep in the loop for activities. Tricky

🙋🏻‍♂️Yes from me. Already saving up…

What happens if I haven’t any pearl to clutch and prefer oat milk? Am I still included?

Bit like downtown abbey in game form. Plays better than it sounds!
Basically 16 turns to build the stately home or host social activities and invite guests. Earn money or reputation which allows better activities. Always a close game which is ideal

Going to play Obsession with the expansion pack this afternoon. Great game!

What will the future of the warming stripes be?

2024 could be the start of a stabilisation of global temperatures, or it might appear to be a cool year.

Which one of these stories becomes reality depends on our choices today, and every day until then.

We are likely to regret not acting sooner.
Two future possibilities of the future warming stripes - rapid action or delayed action.

Word of the Day is one I keep posting at the end of the year, hoping its time will come.

‘Respair’, from the 16th century, is fresh hope, and a recovery from despair.

Here’s to a few drops of respair in 2025.
