Well... it's time. My hair has become way too heavy. It's time for a trim. I had to quit wearing my jewelry because of the added weight, and I miss it. 😩 #longhair #longlocs #longdreadlocks #gulfofmexico #beach
One of my polished brass hair jewelry designs. These are compact and intricate, but I love a good challenge. #hairjewelry #locs #dreadlocks #braids #brassjewelry #heatherfish
I finally finished this Arkansas quartz torque necklace. 12+ hours and a few blisters later, and I'm pleased with how it turned out.🤘 Available on my website: heatherfish.com
This is the branch structure of my Spiny Black Olive #bonsai tree. I removed a major limb to correct a bar branch flaw, and it is a wonderful example of the natural way this tree grows... like a geometric pattern. I felt compelled to share. 💚
That's great feedback! Thank you so much. I have been feeling that they aren't quite positioned quite right yet, so this is helpful. 🙌 I appreciate it!
Yes. They are thin enough that I could probably wire them and bend a little. If more bending is needed, I could probably wrap them in a cloth soaked in hot water for a bit. It would soften the wood enough to bend further without cracking.
Also, I like the idea of deadwood that represents the tree's struggle to try and exist in a difficult place. Like, perhaps, it keeps putting out leaders just for them to inevitably die, and then try again... the deadwood being kind of a record of that struggle. 🤷‍♀️
Honestly... I haven't decided... I suppose it's kind of a cross between two things. Most of my trees often take on a more compact masculine style, and I struggle to create designs that are more fluid and feminine, so I thought I would try creating a design that seems like a dance.
I worked on my #windswept #literati #bonsai today. I'm bad at this style, so I made this tree initially to try and improve my skills. This is its second major styling. Not a terrible start...
Yes, it does... Thank you! ☺️
My bougainvillea bonsai. No styling work so far. I rescued it after a hurricane 3 years ago, & it had zero good roots. I have been waiting for it to gain strength & vigor. Outside of some needed carving & a potting angle change, I'm torn about next steps for styling. My greatest challenge so far.
Ah.. I see. That makes perfect sense.
Commisioned set of #Norse #dreadlockbeads

Elements include Baltic amber, hessonite garnet, antler, & jeweler's brass. My goal with this set was to explore and strike a balance between new & old techniques. The brass elements are raw & unsealed, just as they would have been in the bronze age.
Honestly... you could very easily sell these too. I used to do the same thing. I'd throw away everything I deemed imperfect. My customers protested. Now I put together grab bags and sell "missfits", and they are quite popular. People find beauty in imperfection. You are missing out on revenue...
A beautiful, quality little #bonsaipot by @brambledragon.bsky.social

It's a relatively young tree, so it needs more work & growth time, but this pot is perfect for it... especially when it blooms with little cream/white flowers in the spring. This little dude is part of my permanent collection. 💚
Yay! I've been looking for the perfect pot for this little tree! It puts out little white flowers, so your pot works perfectly. Thank you!
Oh wow! This is beautiful! :)
Bench update! All my small #bonsai trees received maintenance and hair cuts today. Some are looking rather naked, but they will recover. I'm going to look for some proper pots for a few of them soon.
Another of my #parsoniijuniper #bonsai trees. I let berries grow on it this year while it takes a break from wire. In the spring, it will get a different potting angle and wirework.
My cascade style #ficus #bonsai on it's new pedistal. It needs some repositioning in the pot, and I'm hoping to get some back budding in a few places, but I'm happy with the design so far.
I don't know how Bluesky became the social media I post all my bonsai content to, but why not? The #bonsai community here is so great. :) I've been working on a Bonsai showcase area in the garden recently. Will update when done. :)
Some more new hair jewelry designs are available in my stores! These dudes went through nearly a year of wear-testing. I'm pleased with the results. The clear coat holds up nicely.
Just updated a heatherfish classic on my website and Etsy store! Varied set of ten brass hair beads. Custom size and finish options are available. 😊
Why is finding raw material for garden trees(niwaki) so difficult here?! Surely it would be normal for nurseries to sell native trees? Sigh. I think I'm missing something.
