The COVID vaccine is still wrecking me, but it's worth it for the better 5G connection 🤩.

I want to create the sensation that you are visiting another world when playing Shoreline, so there is a day/night-cycle that subtly influences UI elements in the browser. Sped up here, but I am very happy with it :). #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #browsergame #indiedev #game #solarpunk #games

I found a way to use animations/animated sprites with the LDtk editor and ExcaliburJS that works for me. I wrote a short blogpost in the hope it helps someone else as well or I get corrected :). www.heltweg.org/posts/how-t... #gamedev

Everyone loves completing sticker albums, right? Playing around with collections that allow you to learn about the world bit-by-bit. Also, public domain art is so good, look at those cute animals 🤩. #gamedev #browsergame #indiedev #solarpunk

Experimenting with different kinds of login flows - using a dialogue instead of the expected login form. I feel it sets a nice mood from the start.

What do you think? Trying too hard to replace conventions or cozy mood, pls more?

Perspectives we should hear more of :).
Of course I would say this, but we need to talk about the moral & ideological case for play & leisure more than ever. So much political discourse - especially from the super-rich - assumes we ought to construct society around forcing citizens to spend most of their one, unrepeatable life working.

Wow, interesting observation of the day: I set aside some time to interact with "the community" in an attempt to make new connections (instead of just shouting into the void). But it is genuinely hard to find posts that allow for any response and are not just soulless marketing spam.

Parisian houses look so cute with some snow ❄️. Not a lot stayed but we need to take what we can get 😅.

Playing around with ship cargo and opening chests. I loved the feeling of opening packs in hearthstone. So getting my chest-opening fix as a core game mechanic without the monetization sounds fun ☺️. #gamedev #browsergame

Our navigator now walks around randomly to introduce some life to the ship. Also quite fun to talk to, I think she deserves a real name 🤔. #gamedev

I thought it would be cool to watch the crew of your airship live. Used ExcaliburJS + LDtk to build this (ugly and tiny 😭) airship + our navigator. LDtk is really fun to use, amazing software. Sadly, I am terrible at making it look good. Any good resources for building pretty 2D levels? #gamedev

are we feeling pixel art portraits (left) or 1-bit black&white portraits (right)? #gamedev

From vibe coding prototypes on the left to actual implementations on the right. Uses www.inklestudios.com/ink/ as a DSL that gets parsed on the fly in the browser. Hopefully that allows me to use their dialogue editor/other tooling in the future, plus it is just text (good versioning, LLMs) #gamedev

vibecoding computer games until I hit the Claude limit, play WoW, repeat. unbothered. moisturized. in my lane.

Still kind of liking this old school logbook vibe for a positive, solar-punky explorer game? #gamedev

Experimenting with frontend prototyping for a Baldur's Gate inspired browsergame with solar punk aesthetics using Claude today. I quite like the scientific notebook style that came out, probably inspired by the idea of collecting specimen from a world to explore 🤔. #gamedev

Experts are important for data engineering, how can we support them? What are the effects of a domain-specific language to understand data pipelines? Spoiler: Not faster or easier, but fewer mistakes. Mostly due to enforced code structure, less "magic" and using experience from spreadsheet software.

Invested my Steam € into buying WH40k Rogue Trader. I like it so far, though there are some wild pacing decisions and dialogue options. I wonder if it is just my nostalgia that makes me think earlier CRPGs had much slower, better done scripts?

i would have some time to build a new hobby project, i wonder if it is finally time to embrace the gamedev dream? or try building a voice-guided touring app for paris 🤔

Leaving gloomy Paris for one more trip to Germany and one more PhD defense, this time as a guest. I'm hyped to experience a defense without anxiety for once 😅.
