Grade II built 1861 by TA Richardson for grocers. Carved fruit-and-foliage corbels weren't just decoration - they were Victorian advertising! A precursor to Chester's later Vernacular Revival buildings. A billboard carved in stone!

Grade I at 12 Bridge Street. Built by Mayor Thomas Cowper (1641/42) with "TC 1664" carved beam. The 13th century undercroft has a window proving ground levels were once lower - Chester literally grew upwards, burying its own past!

Grade I at 6 Lower Bridge Street with cellar timbers from 1180 - recycled from an earlier building! Contains medieval Row & shopfront, enclosed by Sir Richard Grosvenor c.1643. Medieval builders knew quality timber was worth reusing!
