Some years ago, in a rough patch for some of my students, I wrote a poem. In it, I told them what I wished I had said on the day they arrived for their first class.

When the time comes, I will be proud to call you a colleague.

Such a well-written and necessary statement -- do you happen to know where I can locate it? I can't find it through a web search, and I'd like to be able to reference it in other exam-related discussions.
Yeah, I totally came in hot there. Apologies. The discussion thread that @sheologian.bsky.social‬ kindly carried forward is more measured.
But to say that there's no such thing as a BAA covering AI is just factually wrong. Questions about BAAs should be directed both to the BAA providers (the piece I think was missing here) and to professional liability insurers. If they understand things differently, it's worth examining why.
I myself don't use AI note-taking, because on balance I don't think the risk is worth it. I understand insurers wanting to discourage clinicians from using AI clinically, because so much is unknown, untested, and/or potentially unsafe.
Look, I came in hot, and I'll own that. I *do* think Amy was wrong, but I could've addressed it far more thoughtfully.

I don't presume that info from an EHR and info from an insurer are the same. They serve somewhat different purposes.
The relevant direct quote and link are above in this thread. Both companies do tend to suffer from link bloat, so trying to find the info through navigation as opposed to search can be a challenge. For both, search got me to the key info quickly.
Yeah, I wonder to what degree they've kept up with it. (It is fast-moving to be sure.) Or whether they're just taking a super-conservative approach in the absence of test cases on the subject. I have no doubt there eventually will be test cases.
lol apologies, rereading that, it's totally coming in hot. Not my intent. It's just that it's not true, and both the companies you mentioned plainly say so.
