I need to party with the IWTV writer’s room. Like this is FUN

Because you asked sooooo nicely...... the spoof board for imaginary Interview With the Vampire episode 30g.

since the other place is down, I’m singing the praises of Mickey 17 here as well. The script is a little nutty and all over the place but I had FUN with it because at its core is this really compelling love story. That’s the engine of this film.

In closing:

Yes, it’s not that deep.
Yes, I’m overthinking this.

And her look could’ve been going for a contemporary take on the 60s look and if that’s the case, throw this thread out lol

Again, the work of the hair and makeup teams on the film is still great overall!

With all that being said, I think this look from the trailer is great with the addition of the scarf as that would’ve been on trend, which means we could see more looks that signal 60s. I think a heavier curl and little more lift would make it perfect.
hiimbobbi.bsky.social
I think when thinking about period piece hair, we have to think about how it would’ve been achieved. In the 60s, roller sets or pin curls were it. Like magazines would regularly feature roller set patterns for specific hairstyles that could be done at home.

Even with her hair a little longer, there’s room to have volume with a curl. Another thing here is curls versus waves, as waves read a little bit more contemporary
hiimbobbi.bsky.social
The name of the game with 60s hair is volume. Big short hair. Big long hair. Just big hair. So she would’ve loved a strong curl or flip at the bottom with a little bit of volume at the top.

If we’re pulling from the comics, a slightly longer bubble cut with flipped ends would be perfect. It’s chic and glamorous while still being practical for being a superhero.

Getting the obvious of the way. Yes, this is “retro futuristic” and they could not be from “this universe.” However, the rest of the characters do adhere to aesthetics based in the 60s of this universe, so I’m operating under that assumption.

Let’s set the table.

The film takes place in the (early?) 60s, similar to the start of the comics. This is what her hair looks like in the trailer. I assume there’s a time jump in the movie because her hair is different lengths, but she maintains shoulder length loose waves (could also be curls).

(Disclaimer disclaimer: this is in no way intend to demean the world of the hair and makeup teams on the film. They are the professionals who know the direction of the movie and I’m just a random person lol)

Did this thread #overthere but here’s what I thought Sue Storm’s hair would look like.

(disclaimer: this is just going off the first teaser and is subject to change with the release of the film.)

I’ve taken some time away from Culture Kitsch, but I’ve itching to come back. In this video, I explored the history and culture that surrounds Peanuts and Snoopy and why Gen Z, especially, has taken such a fondness to them.
