From the Hilltop to the hardwood, covering all things Georgetown basketball.
It sure feels like Georgetown basketball is beginning to turn a corner as a program.

After tonight's blowout win over Creighton, Ed Cooley has Georgetown basketball surging at a level not seen in nearly a decade.

It's time to start believing in this team. tinyurl.com/4dsap2vt

If you were looking for a strong response from Georgetown following the Notre Dame disappointment, the last four games have been everything you could have hoped for.

Now, can GU maintain this performance level against tougher competition? We'll find out soon. tinyurl.com/bdws888s

Morning bump.
With the usual caveats (it's early, they're young, etc.), Saturday's performance against Notre Dame wasn't good enough, on any level.

Many of the issues that plagued Georgetown last year seem to be stubbornly sticking around.

On the early warning signs that need fixing, fast. tinyurl.com/5n88wkd9

I’d hate to be an IPA in the Dupont Circle area right about now on this fine fall day. I’ll just say that.

Ed Cooley and Micah Shrewsberry are both in their 2nd year at their programs. One team is ascendant and looks to have a promising future ahead. The other looks stagnant and like it has plenty of question marks still.

I’ll let you figure out who is who.

Malik Mack picks up his third foul 16 seconds into the second half. Not great!

Josh Pastner ripping apart the Georgetown defense in the halftime show right now. And rightfully so.
November 16, 2024 at 7:00 PM
Thomas Sorber almost didn't play today and still has 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in the first half. This game would be even uglier for Georgetown without him.

Look at the difference on offense between Georgetown and Notre Dame. Lots of ball movement, off-ball cutting, good floor-spacing for ND.

For Georgetown? Lot of me ball, no cohesion, forcing difficult shots late in the shot clock. It's not good!
November 16, 2024 at 6:48 PM
Georgetown is shooting 26% from the field and 19% from three. You're not going to beat many teams with that level of putrid shooting.
November 16, 2024 at 6:45 PM
Another offensive rebound for Notre Dame that finds a wide-open Allocco, who hits another 3. He is 5-for-5 from deep. ND back up 10, 32-22.
November 16, 2024 at 6:42 PM
Ed Cooley waving his arms trying to get the crowd going as Georgetown has this at a four-point deficit now.
November 16, 2024 at 6:39 PM
Notre Dame in the bonus with 7:08 left in the first half.
November 16, 2024 at 6:37 PM
Malik Mack with a nice pocket pass to Thomas Sorber for the dunk, and then Georgetown forces a ND backcourt violation. The hosts are trying to get back in this.

ND up 21-15

what on earth
I am so happy to say that the guy who writes incredibly detailed wikipedia pages for individual Georgetown basketball seasons is back en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011–12...

We just had back-to-back-to-back unforced turnovers from both teams. This game is breathtakingly awful.

Notre Dame up 21-10.

These three-pointers aren't even close. Stop taking them!
November 16, 2024 at 6:23 PM
Tae Davis hits a 3 to make it 19-7 Notre Dame, as the run is now at 13-0. Embarrassing start for Georgetown in a game they need to win.
November 16, 2024 at 6:20 PM
10-0 run for Notre Dame. 16-7 Fighting Irish. Not a good start from Georgetown in this one.
November 16, 2024 at 6:18 PM
Georgetown is really not a good three-point shooting team. Major weakness.
November 16, 2024 at 6:15 PM
Sorber making his impact felt immediately. Draws another foul to take us to the U16 timeout. He's drawn 2 PFs in less than two minutes of game play.
November 16, 2024 at 6:11 PM
Sorber checks in 2:55 into the first half, replacing Drew Fielder. OK then.

Our handsome Big East king.
November 16, 2024 at 6:03 PM
Thomas Sorber is battling an illness but is available today, per John Fanta. He won’t start.
