as mentioned at the start, a lot of these are bits that made sense to scrap due to time restraints and it's well known by this point the production team DID try to include more... so, if you haven't taken a crack at phantom blood's manga? you should! it's a solid read! 💕

23.) ALTERED: The sequence of Speedwagon running late to see JonaEri off removes the fact that he left the tavern without paying AND was chased after by the owner, only for the dock workers carrying Dio's coffin to knock him in the head. Speedwagon's the one to get knocked over in the anime!

22.) ALTERED: I sometimes thinks forget how gruesome this moment is because it's notably highlighted with a glow effect in the anime, and the more intense gore was toned down for obvious censoring reasons, but still...

21.) REMOVED: A continuation from the prior chapter pages, but before Tarkus kills the two men by wringing them apart and continues his pursuit of Jonathan, Zeppeli, and Speedwagon, he does an attack that destroys the ground around them as seen in the anime. It's the only part here to make the cut.

20.) REMOVED: Poco's attempt to warn the villagers about the zombies goes unheard by two men who think he's lying and decide to menace him. The more gruesome elements in PB's style of horror especially shine during this scene with Tarkus' appearance. In the anime, nothing of this sequence remains.

19.) REMOVED: An entire action sequence with Zeppeli (where he creates a full body shield of Hamon to deflect a brunt of scattering debris that would've proven fatal if he didn't protect himself) was cut after Tarkus crushes what remained of Bruford's armor following his purification by Jonathan.

18.) REMOVED: WE COMPLETELY LOST SPEEDWAGON TRYING TO JOIN JONATHAN AND ZEPPELI IN WALKING ON WATER AND ABSOLUTELY FAILING. It's only a short three panels on the overall page, but it's such a funny sequence of events just as the action starts picking up!

17.) REMOVED: Speedwagon and Zeppeli's exchange where he asks to be taught Hamon too is taken out. In the anime, the only glimpses of that remain of it are when we get Jonathan only overhearing the aftermath of Zeppeli 'accidentally' punching Speedwagon wrong. We don't get to see the actual punch.

16.) REMOVED: The elderly women gossiping about the 'sick person' recovering in the mansion by the graveyard and the girl who 'ran away' are gone, while the following scene with Dio was altered: removing the second girl hostage and Wang Chen's reappearance to share what happened with Jonathan.

15.) REMOVED: A fight between Jonathan and Wang Chen during his time training with Zeppeli was axed. This attempt to stop Jojo, who was thought to be the only one in Dio's way at the time, was both to show Jonathan's startling progress, but also use Wang Chen as Dio's means of learning about Hamon.

14.) REMOVED: Coinciding with the prior scene, Erina's firm (emphasized by an extremely cold gaze from her) dismissal of Speedwagon's attempted visitation during the day is cut all the same, so we aren't reintroduced to her until she's shown in Jonathan's hospital room after Speedwagon sneaks in.

13.) REMOVED: Like the prologue, the entire beginning pages of Jonathan's hospital stint following his first battle against vampire Dio were removed, and Speedwagon's attempt to visit Jojo during the day doesn't get a mention when he stands outside the hospital later that night.

12.) ALTERED: Dio's flashback on being told to sell his late mother's dress shows up in the anime without most of the actual flashback dialogue + only Dio's final panel narration. We get quick flashes of Dario holding the bottle, Dio hitting the table, and the dress being thrown aside.

11.) ALTERED: It's more than a bit upsetting that we don't get to see Jonathan visibly cry over the loss of his best friend in the anime, only getting narration of it.

10.) ALTERED: Most of Jonathan's internal dialogue about his struggle of wanting to reach out to Erina was removed in the anime, reduced to his frustration with Dio's aim to ruin them succeeding beyond expectations. We also lose his miserable stroll home which inevitably leads him to Danny's grave.
