On Nov 24, 1922 in Santa Fe, NM, representatives of 7 states signed the Colorado River Compact agreement governing non-recreational water use apportionment. Gov James Scrugham (in the middle) signed for Nevada, part of the "lower Colorado River division." tinyurl.com/33nnnf78

Opened in 1908, the Post Office in Morningstar, NV in Lyon County. west of Yerington, was changed on Nov 24, 1911 to Ludwig, NV, renamed for prospector, Indian fighter, and local mine founder, John Ludwig. The Post Office finally closed in 1932.

Nevada Transit Company opened the three mile streetcar trolley line between Reno and Sparks, NV to the public on Nov 24, 1904, Thanksgiving Day. Almost 3,000 rode the 10 minute trip to Sparks that day. t.co/ih4J5iXDve

Pop Squires started a weather station at the train depot in 1905 to add value to his Las Vegas Age paper. In 1912, the weather station was moved behind the Las Vegas Age offices at 411 Fremont St.

According to the Nov 24, 1906 Las Vegas Age, the demand for meat in the Bullfrog and Greenwater districts was so great, that Las Vegas Mercantile "butchered day and night" to meet the demand.

On Nov 14, 1864, acting Nevada Governor James Nye, and acting Secretary of State Orion Clemens, proclaimed Nov 24, 1864 as a "day of public Thanksgiving and Prayer."
Note: Nye performed as Acting Governor until Governor-elect Blasdel was sworn in on Dec 5.

The Nov 24, 1906 Las Vegas Age reported that lots were on sale for the town site of Furnace in the Greenwater District. This is southeast of the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley, CA.
Note: Water sold for $7.50-15.00 per barrel in the district then.
