A dog’s paw print on a Roman clay tile 🐾 🐕 😍

About 2,000 years-ago, a dog made its mark for ‘pawsterity’ when it wandered across the wet tile laid out to dry before firing.

This oculus in the entrance hall brought light to any who were lucky enough to visit Emperor Diocletian in his magnificent Palace in Split, #Croatia

Dating from the late 3rd century AD, it's still fantastically preserved!

Today’s ep was all on the Gunners at Passcehndaele in 1917

A truly informative ep from the super Simon Shephard - who knew the sheer volume of shells or guns that were used didn’t simply translate into the destruction of enemy trenches, but was more targeted to neutralise them?

"The most dangerous were the first and last five trips. During the whole war, 51% of aircrew were killed on operations, 12% were killed or wounded in non-operational accidents and 13% became prisoners of war or evaders. Only 24% survived the war unscathed."
