Salutations!

my name is Kat, and I write about the #NHL (although I truly adore hockey in all forms), particularly the Canes, Blue Jackets, Penguins (sometimes), hockey culture, identity, mental health, etc…

(I have lots in the works — coming soon.)

"I wish hockey loved women as much as it loves signing bargain players"
The amazing @lexilafleur.bsky.social speaking truth. The NHL has learned nothing.

As a Golden Knights fan, I am begging. If you haven't signed this, please do. The contract is only a pto, so Hart can still be released.

It’s hockey time in Columbus, with the #CBJ   taking on the #GoBolts   at home, 7pm EST.

Erik Gudbranson is day-to-day, and Miles Wood is week-to-week — both with upper-body injuries.

If the goaltending pattern continues as is, Jet Greaves gets the start in net for Columbus.
It’s a hockey night in Columbus, with the #CBJ  taking on the #GoAvsGo  at 7pm EST. The Jackets will be honoring franchise legend Cam Atkinson today, alongside the 25th anniversary of the org.

Yegor Chinakhov draws in for Miles Wood, and Elvis Merzļikins likely starts in net.

No Miles Wood (upper body/face) or Erik Gudbranson (upper body) today for #CBJ practice.
Other literary opinions, because I can do days about this topic.

• Everyone should read “Frankenstein”, especially right now in the age of AI slop.

• Emily Dickinson deserves better than to be seen as “homebody woman who became folklore.” She was also a literary genius.
The same applies for her death. On the rare occasions I was taught Plath in English class growing up, it was with the focus of her death. While the very important context of mental health needs to be discussed with Plath, she is too-often defined by her darkest moments.

I collect Plath stuff, so…
English major here, and I have SO MANY of these.

A hill I will die on: Sylvia Plath was by no means a perfect person, but framing her life and work only under the context of Ted Hughes is a grave disservice to how clever she was and the impact womanhood and mental illness played on her work.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat
That’s been on my TBR forever. I’ve loved Hirsch’s Players Tribune pieces.
And here are my favorite reads of 2025 so far, in no particular order.

(for the hockey folks, I HIGHLY recommend Boy on Ice.)
Non-hockey related post, but I’m a huge bookworm trying to read a book a month.

Here’s my October read, which is strikingly relatable thus far.

Greaves gets the start for #CBJ tonight vs #NJDevils

No Gudbranson today at #CBJ morning skate, Christiansen will come in, and it looks like he’s on the left with Mateychuk on the right. It’d be off side for either to play the right, but slightly surprising if it’s Mateychuk because Christiansen has more experience on the right.

It’s a hockey night in Columbus!

The #CBJ  take on the #NJDevils  at Nationwide Arena tonight at 7pm. The roster is expected to look the same as the past two games in Nashville and St. Paul. Goaltending is TBD. We also should expect an Erik Gudbranson update at some point today.

Fire the cannon!

From the 2024-2025 rulebook:
Love this. Goalie interference gets called incorrectly so many times over (such as the recent call on Columbus’s Mathieu Olivier), and having a tracker will hopefully help with the rule’s understanding.

Every time someone talks about “curing” autism, what they’re really saying is:

That autism is a disease
That we are broken
That we shouldn’t exist

It’s not just wrong - it’s dehumanising

We’re not a problem to be solved.
We’re real, valid humans

Why is that so hard to see?
