Zack P has impressed me so far. I detest Farage and to think of the mess he’ll make if predictions for 2029 are on the mark makes me despair for the future of a progressive England.
That said, I think he’s still suspended from the PLP…
I wonder who will end up being Starmer’s replacement? John McDonnell would get my vote!
I got teapots Assam teabags a few years ago, after a long time drinking the Twinnings ones for ages. First few cups were amazingly refreshing. The perfect brew. Habituation soon began to take hold and it wasn’t too long before the experience became everyday. Eventually moved to Lidl Assam!
Thanks for mentioning Albert Wainwright. I never knew of him. Great video introduction on The Hepworth’s website.
But I’m sure more than 20% of Castlefordian would know *his* name.
I mean, there’s the obvious one that fits in that category? His name was on the roll of honour at Castleford Grammar School (it’s in Castleford library now) and I recently discovered (whilst watching a documentary from 1969 now in YouTube) that he made it and scratched his name into the back when…

Not one for usually blowing my own trumpet, but dumplings are really first rate!
So sad. And so angry. Scum floats to the top.
I used to go to a music school there from 11 or 12 to learn guitar. Such a shame the developers got away with knocking down the original bits.
Taken from St Patrick’s Hill? Fabulous photo! Brings back many memories.
Places like Four Lane Ends where Whitwood Tech was, top of Ferrybridge Rd and Queen’s Park or up Holywell Lane. Off on a tangent, I wonder where the holy well was? And when it started to be venerated?
Holme sweet Holme, surely. I certainly recall seeing it from Castleford in the 80s - or at least from its higher-up places. Now it looms more closely in the nearer distance.
The trees up north (in this pennine part, at least) are still quite leafy.
Isn’t Switzerland outside the EU?
