Koby resists for all of two seconds as he draws his knees up to rest on them, allows the basket to be stolen, and leans slightly into Luffy's personal bubble.

"...thank you."

It's such a ridiculous statement. A wild bit of information that he'd keep to himself, of course, still...

"...Smoker-Chūjō doesn't seem like much of a chocolate person... I had no idea." Koby would be lying if he said his eyes weren't sparkling at this tidbit of personal information.

"B-But I don't want to bring down morale by rejecting offers!" He's genuinely distraught over it, knowing he'd feel horrible if he went through the effort to hand out candy to everyone only to have it rejected.

Other than boot camp, it's the softest bonding he's seen in the marines since joining.

"Or something..." Another gentle, miserable noise. "...the whole departments are huge, r-right? So people hand them out if they can afford to do so. Building morale or... b-but it's rude to 𝘯𝘰𝘵 take any so it's all I've eaten all day."

"...and throwing it away isn't an option, Luffy-san..."

He's a teary mess, glasses fogged and cheek smushed against his knees as Koby takes in his fellow Captain.

"It's all too much and if I don't eat them people will think I'm being rude. I appreciate it... b-but it's too sweet and too much!"

A wet sniffle, but not outright crying.

"...it hurts..."

Koby flinches, startling and peering up from his knees. It doesn't matter that the voice belongs to... well... he's not going to speculate on how Luffy is here.

"...suffering..." The word mumbled out in his quiet misery, daring to not move from his curled crouch as the basket of sweets sits by him.

He's so sick to his stomach.

With so many chocolates and candies handed out so freely it'd be rude to not eat what he's been given...

...but Koby will just double over more with a tiny, miserable noise at the pain of consuming too many sweets.

The cafeteria is serving chicken and rice soup and it's a trap. It's all an elaborate trap...

...my stomach is so full 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥.
