Today is the day and the day is NOW: the new Monsieur Herr album (note: Monsieur Herr is me) BUYING INTO THE HYPE is out NOW wherever you get your music.

It's like 60 Minutes on acid.

Cover art for Monsieur Herr's "Buying Into the Hype" album. A guy in a gray suit and paisley shirt stands in a room with yellow-green floral wallpaper surrounded by Too Many Microphones, holding a piece of paper that reads "PREPARED REMARKS."

Text reading "M. Herr: 'Buying Into the Hype'" crosses the left side of the image vertically in wine-red Microgramma. Smaller text reading "33 1/3 rpm" adorns the bottom left corner.

Considering the idea that Television and Neil Young/Crazy Horse are the platonic ideal of two guitars/bass/drums rock groups for when you secretly wish you were jazz and when you want to hang out and make a lot of noise and see what happens, respectively

[A blinding light beams down from the sky, illuminating my body in a heavenly glow] "The Promise" by When in Rome is proto-Wii music

"The Cuervo Gold / the fine Columbian" and the 'Retha Franklin stuff are the obvious ones but lest we forget "Don't go for that cotton candy," "Szechuan dumplings," "I am holding the mystical sphere," pretty much all of the title track, pretty much all of My Rival ("stompin' time"), and so on

Considering the possibility that Gaucho may in fact be the funniest Steely Dan album, which is no mean feat considering how often Steely Dan tries and is largely successful at being funny. It certainly has the best (i.e. the most ridiculous) one-liners

Then again, David Lynch certainly is a singular Entity and he'll pretty much be around forever no matter what. But that doesn't make it any better
honsieurmerr.bsky.social
I'm still bummed out that David Lynch is no longer on this planet. Every time I'm reminded that he's gone I become irrepressibly sad. I'm not sure I'll ever not be sad about it

i love the idea that there’s definitely a few thousand people out there everyday that ask grok stuff like “is broccoli healthy”

Placing bets now on whether or not the new Taylor Swift album will reach Love Beach status in 20-30 years. By my understanding it seems to be equally hilarious and embarrassing largely by way of its creator not realizing how hilarious and embarrassing it is

What if instead of Lowe's it was Nick Lowe's and Nick Lowe was there and also Los Straitjackets were there. Would be really fucking cool

Trying to come up with a list of the Good Billy Joel Songs as someone who isn't particularly a Billy Joel fan. So far I have Pressure, Uptown Girl, Movin' Out, My Life, *maybe* Angry Young Man? Maybe some others. Big but ultimately low priority WIP

the fact that so many people frame autism as “a problem that needs to be solved” is a constant reminder that being “not normal” isn’t acceptable to a large amount of the world. it’s the same reason there’s a trans panic right now too. they think people are defective

My other new album is called "Joining the War on Autism on the Side of Autism"

My respect for Rupert Holmes was already higher than the average person's for producing Sparks' Big Beat but it went up even more when I found out his music was great for screaming "What a fucking bastard" to www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMeo...

I'm becoming a big appreciator of Rupert Holmes and specifically the Partners in Crime album. A casual observer may dismiss it as mere Yacht Rock but in actuality the bulk of the album consists of top-shelf Prank Music for Awful People. Much like Steely Dan it just has a veneer of acceptability

[My eyes glow with a blinding light] The big difference between ELO and ABBA is that ELO has far more artistic pretensions (and worse drum sounds) while ABBA has never claimed to be anything more than exceptionally skilled craftspeople

[A beam of light comes down from Heaven straight into my brain] ELO is basically ABBA with more street cred
