It was a great day for trails. We started with a relaxed walk up Peppercorn Hill, then Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 1 Hopkinton and BSA Troop 11 Hopkinton & Westboro pitched in to haul old tires and trash from the Cattle Run trail at the Hughes Farm property.
Despite a last-minute relocation, we managed to gather a small crew of six to clear the paths by Legacy Farms North.
The location of tomorrow's trail workday (Saturday, October 4) has been changed. We'll be working in the same general area, but a bit further north. Meet/park in the large lot off Legacy Farms North Road across from Spruce Street.
We had a great turnout for our walk on the Old Town Road by Lake Maspenock. Many thanks for Dave Cormier for leading the way and providing fascinating details about the area.
Wow! What an amazing Hopkinton Trails Committee trail workday. With a LOT of help from Boy Scout Troop 4 Hopkinton, we built 120 feet of bridge at Berry Acres. A huge round of thanks to the Scouts for their great work.
A small crew made quick work of building a small bridge and a rock path to cross the final wet spots on a trail in Berry Acres. This area is at the end of the long bridge built during the last Hopkinton Trails Committee trail workday.
Possibly our best bridge yet. Thanks to a fantastic trail workday crew, an abandoned trail has been reopened.
Thanks to those who attended our Trails Day Celebration, and thanks to those who helped put it together.
Another fantastic trail workday today, with a crack crew building two bridges at Berry Acres.
Another bridge built, on the new trail connecting the Center Trail to Chamberlain Ext.
A crew of six, including two Hopkinton High School seniors, braved a series of downpours and made great progress clearing a new trail at Fruit Street.
For their third week of trail work, the Hopkinton High Seniors cleared garlic mustard and trash from the Echo Trail. Many thanks to Elise, Olympia, Elyse, and Ilian.
A mid-week work crew built a new boardwalk on the connector from the Center Trail to the Chamberlain Extension
With all of rain last night and today, we adjusted our walk on the trails at Legacy Farms South today, and had a great time. We explored the former railroad bed and the Legacy Farms trail. Hidden treasures! We'll save the rest of the walk for another (drier) day.
We made more progress on the new trail on the Colella land at the Hughes Farm property. There's now a cleared path for the length of the old cattle run. We also began laying out a route to connect the west end down to the Hughes Farm trails. We hope to clear it for next month's trail workday.
Chuck takes measurements for a new bridge at Berry Acres. The need for a bridge is obvious!
The Hopkinton Public Library has a GRIT Freedom Chair available to be borrowed. Another way to enjoy the trails. Contact the Library for the details.
Due to predicted rain, we're cancelling the guided walk on the Legacy South trails scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, 4/12). We'll try again in May.
Another day, another trail workday, our third in five days. Today was the inaugural weekday workday, clearing brush and leaves along the Echo Trail.
Our third workday at the Colella property, clearing a path through the old cattle run. Thank you to all who came out to lend a hand.
Many thanks to the crew from Dell for a fantastic workday on the Center Trail. One group cleared the winter debris from the drainage ditches, while the other group dug out an old, clogged culvert and replaced it with a new pipe. Great work by wonderful people.
What a great workday today, clearing 540 feet of the cattle run at the Colella property. We'll be back there April 5 at 9AM. Join us! photos.app.goo.gl/LGajrxGPAYY2...

Good times were had by all on today's tour of the trails at Fruit St. & Pratt Farm. Fantastic weather and a great group. Thanks to all who joined us.
For tomorrow's walk at 1PM (Fruit St./Pratt Farm), the weather looks good, but the trails are kind of choppy (frozen boot tracks). Traction stuff (Stabilicers, YakTrax, microspikes, etc.) or even snowshoes might be helpful. We'll have a few extra pairs of each to share.
