Our goals here, as they've been on Twitter and FB, are the same:

1. Get you to warmly embrace the Horizon League
2. Encourage the liberal use of the #HLMBB and #HLWBB tags
3. Be okay with Wright, Cleveland and Youngstown not being states
4. Reinforce that Jack Gohlke is a damned folk hero
Northern Kentucky has now won three in a row, courtesy of triumph over in-state foe Eastern Kentucky. Alex Perez has the story. #HLMBB
NKU pulls away late in win over EKU
NKU began its four-game home stand Monday night as they took on the EKU Colonels. A back-and-forth game ended up going the way of the Norse in a 82-71 victory. This marks three straight wins for NKU and keeps them undefeated at home in the young season. These teams that love to push pace and tempo were unable to do that due to missed shots to start.

At Northwestern on Friday, Cleveland State came extremely close to its first victory over a Big Ten team since 2012-13. However, just enough went wrong for the Vikings to keep them on the wrong side of the result, while falling to 4-1. Here's what stood out to Kyle Rossi.
Cleveland State Misses Upset Opportunity at Northwestern: Five Observations
Cleveland State fell just short in its only scheduled game against a high-major opponent this season, as Northwestern took a 75-68 decision over the Vikings in Evanston, IL on Friday night. Here are five things that stood out, as CSU fell to 4-1 this season: 1. Oftentimes, when a mid-major team visits a power conference foe, the former struggles a bit with “bright lights syndrome.”

Thanks to career-best games by Casey Santoro and Erica King, along with a fourth quarter surge, Youngstown State was able to hold off Mercyhurst on Thursday night to improve to 4-1. James Moon has the recap.
Santoro and King Pull Off Career Games in Penguins’ Road Win
The Youngstown State Penguins women's basketball team (4-1) used a big second half to help them earn a 64-50 road win against the Mercyhurst Lakers (0-4) on Thursday night at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center in Erie, PA. The game started very tough for both units. After redshirt freshman Sarah Baker kicked off the scoring with a bucket in the paint 53 seconds into the game, no points were scored by either team for the next 3:11 until sophomore Erica King split some free throws to make it 3-0.
