I don't have a lot to say about the finale of ST, however! people say "plot hole" when what they mean is "loose end", "retcon", or "dumb choice". The latter are fine but a plot hole is a missing bit of action or information without which the story cannot move forward or resolve #strangerthings

The "Uncanny Valley" must now serve humans to recognize and avoid the products of Generative AI (in writing, images, video, audio and information).

The deep well of pattern recognition that delineated huckleberries from nightshade can again save us from gorging on poison

I'd probably like football if not for the CTE and the all the play banning and rule changes. Like are they tough athletes or little babies? It's not like anyone is bringing a gun on the field to get first down

The point of GATTACA was that the normal kid is actually cooler, dates Uma Thurman, and gets to be an astronaut. So no need to stress about this.

I will solve male loneliness by restarting the Civilian Conservation Corps and WPA. Can't be lonely living in a camp with 50 other men and farting around 10 little fires each night. Can't be lonely while filled with the satisfaction of maintaining/ building parks and trails.

I'm a veg-AI-tarian. I don't consume or engage with AI generated materials for moral, health, and environmental reasons.

Don't serve me AI just at you would not serve a vegan, steak.

I've tried the app and like it. It's the digital equivalent of going to sit down, but finding your cat napping peacefully in your best chair - so you go for a walk instead.

You start a timer, and when you pick up your phone, mindlessly, you see a Bean, knitting, and so put the phone down. S'good!

Well it has finally happened. I've been told to touch the poop at work ( implement something someone else produced with generative AI)

"That hit ended the war." We're all worried about WW3 and this president has no patience for the stuff he started. He needs it to already be over.

My wife adopted a butterfly, years ago, and we learned all about their pseudo-sleep "quiessense"

Every weekend nap is "Quiessense" ever since.

Are capacitive touch buttons actually a functional improvement over simple rubber or plastic buttons? Is the sole benefit that they make my air purifier look like an Apple product?

A very belated thought on the #Abundance thing. On interviews Ezra K. likes to state that red states build and blue states don't and that's an issue. But where do red states do all that building? Over natural resources, over historic flood plains. Then a hurricane hits. Regulations exist for reasons

Just because Sam Seder needed it - that doesn't make Ezra Klein correct or insightful.

Fundamentally Klein's schtick is "we need to sell 2008 style technocratic solutions!" But with no reflection as to why that has failed Dems in elections and in power.
