I just remembered how the level 70 CUL quest has you literally stop an old doman's racism and xenophobia with food...by forcing him to realize that a doman dish had its roots in ala mhigo, which directly leads to him letting his daughter marry the ala mhigan(?) job NPC

honestly I think unreal is the best engine for a proof of concept level because of how many free assets there are, including whole genre templates, you can start with controls and a camera following the player already implemented. plus it has node "coding" so you dont need to learn real programing

i have been thinking that DT was originally written to have more of the story take place in the 9th (Koza almost looks like a reflection of Thavnair to me with its pointy mountains, and its tribes are literal recolours ala the 1st), which is why the plot doesnt treat it as anything beyond a footnote
