It's so frustrating seeing this all play out when I was hooked in to underground media throughout the early aughts and 10s calling out these exact scenarios - we were warning people time and time again only to get "you're paranoid" back.

Everything that it is purportedly good at we already had systems for already, e.g. the 'government communications' argument - we already have emergency broadcast systems for that and the CBC which is accessible through radio, TV and the internet.
