These clones are super soldiers genetically breed for the harshest of space combat and are programmed to fight with and defend their assigned partners with their lives

Normally soldiers aren't this intimate with their clones when released, but Jeager is quickly drawn by how vulnerable C-342 looked sleeping in his stasis tank. He's warned not to get too attached to his clone but he doesn't fully agree with his superior's notion that they're just disposable weapons
