I'm not really sure what to do. I started posting about commissions instead of indie game dev and my engagement just dropped instantly to basically 0. Part of me opening commissions is to get funding for my game development, but it seems like its going to be really hard to even do that.

This Christmas I was fortunate enough to receive a VGen code from @VivisDreamverse (on Twitter)! I wish to thank them here as well for the present, it meant a lot!
Being apart of VGen is going to help me with my freelancing and it's a platform I agree with value wise, so it's exciting!

I'm going to document my process here for my artwork submission for VGen's Monthly challenge. Since it is themed for family, and I watched a lot of one piece, I want to recreate one of these scenes (with proper credit to One Piece Franchise)

Haven't shown it (on vrc), but this is my game avatar I changed for vr chat for fun. I recently got the tail to collide on the ground today which is cool

And its pretty compatible with VseeFace and Warudo. Though its a different setup ofc.

I've been looking into setting up a vtubing character for testing purposes and potential videos/streams, i think it's turning out pretty cool.
A lot of this comes from Warudo, it has a really indepth scene setup.

Also am looking to open commissions as well soonish

I've been wondering if its a good idea to start a new account focused on 3d character art, in order to eventually open commissions. Or basically try to combine my indie game dev posts with freelance art. It's hard to know where to start tbh. Maybe posting a demo reel and pinning it?

At least I have more experience making vrc avatars 🙃💀(and can move on, because its a smaller project)

This past month, I've basically been looking into vr chat and I made an avatar for the spookality jam.
I'm playing this on a pc to easily record, but later I can show how it looks in pcvr since i also have that setup.

But yeah, if you've been wondering, that's what i've been doing lol

Small update this week in terms of new features. (I'm exploring other areas of interest with my free time)
Basically though whenever you get close to a checkpoint, a star will appear, so you should not miss it (I sure hope so anyways)

I was thinking of ways to have melee combat that doesn't break the characters speed, and I believe I found something I liked. So you can basically just button mash and move wherever as you attack most things.

I'm implementing a swinging mechanic for my platformer, took a while to set up properly but its worth it to me. You're able to control how much you swing and then you flip forwards when you jump out

Here's a turnaround of one of the NPC's/Enemies I made for my 3D Platformer game.

I added an autotargeting system, It's a little too powerful atm lol, but I think its cool. I just need to make it slightly less powerful.

Also I'm working on level content finally, so that means I will be intending to showcase a new demo when its ready

I've started to make more environmental design choices as well as more level content. Close to where I previously was when I decided to redo all the content around 2 months ago. Soon ill be doing more set dressing and showing off more level gameplay.

This is procedural animation blended with normal animation.

I got a turn-in-place system for the character, and some legs of a robot that moves through a control rig.

Also am adding/tweaking more movement mechanics. More on that later lol.

Made further environmental/lighting changes, and added a new teleportation mechanic that isnt as abrupt.

Its hard to make environments because everything has to complement well, but Im learning a lot

Bouncy tightrope lol

Works well with the cloth simulation i have on my character, and you can even have ranged attacks on it.

Did some animation work as well for the walking on tightrope.

Been focusing on composition and lighting to space things out better visually
Also added a subtle depth of field effect whenever you zoom in close to the character. (That took forever)

Going to focus more on making more levels now before I do more environment work

Here's a new 2d facial rig I just made, that works with a dialogue system. This works with morph targets as well, so I can have both 2d and 3d faces that talk through the same system.

I experimented with cloth+bone simulation and applied it on my character. It's a small thing but details like that make add up to make the animation more cool basically. As long as it isn't overpowering ofc and the base animations are ok.
