Shin is way too important for Jake to lose. But Shin had already made the decision to go with him. It's not just for Gren anymore. It's also for the man he doesn't trust, Jake. Shin may not say anything about Jake. Shin may constantly say he doesn't trust or believe Jake anymore

The fear of losing someone whom he cares for and is important to him. It's finally weighing down on his shoulder on how he might lose someone like Shin if Shin gets hurt in the dangerous operation they are planning. Jake has finally cracked from his cold persona.

Jake is trying to persuade Shin to let go of his revenge. But why? Jake has finally realized that Shin is really someone special to him. Someone whom he can't risk losing. Jake finally found someone who makes his very core waver. This is probably the first fear he had felt.

But what I saw from Jake's body language & his eye expressions is that something doesn't sit right with him. It's like all of this is Jake's plan so that his team will protect Shin instead of targeting him. He's securing Shin's safety & future while he tries to persuade Shin.

It's good to note what Jake had said before parting ways with Rolfe, “He (Shin) doesn't trust me (Jake) but I trust him”. Since from ep9 & 49, Jake has always been nudging Shin about trusting people. That they shouldn't easily trust people but here is Jake giving his all for Shin

Jake kept on vouching for Shin so Rolfe could see Shin in a good light. Rolfe tested Shin's resolution & also Jake's decision. Rolfe knows Jake doesn't get easily swayed. Rolfe finally understood why Jake had decided to choose Shin. Rolfe saw something that Shin made Jake change.

In ep98, we finally see what Jake meant in ep97 about Shin meeting “them” which Jake meant his team. Everything is getting more serious & dangerous for them. Shin showing his resolution in front of a doubtful Rolfe

It's also good to note how Shin is suspicious of everyone after Jake told him about Caesar. Shin never lets his guard down. He knows how dangerous life can be. But Jake reassures him always and Jake is ready to be that reliable wall where Shin can lean on and support him.

He thinks Jake is keeping his mouth shut for the sake of both of them. Shin is realizing that Jake is somehow building a connection with him through unsaid words and genuine actions. Shin might still distrust Jake but he knows he could rely on Jake. Jake is a capable man.

Behind Jake's eyes, he wants to make sure Austin pays for everything that Shin had gone through.

As Shin goes through his files, he realizes that there was one thing that wasn't included. It was something he doesn't want anyone to know but he thinks Jake already knows.

Shin doesn't see any benefit of taking revenge against his former lover but Jake thinks otherwise. Jake's human side always comes out when things are concerned about Shin. Jake understood Shin's hardship in life and saw how messed up he ended because of Austin.

Another point to look at is how Jake is getting angry for Shin's sake. Jake finally had the time to talk about Austin to Shin. The man who threw Shin in the streets & messed up his life. Messing up Shin's bright future. The start of Shin's another betrayal from someone he trusts.

Understanding Jake has been difficult for Shin but as days goes by he'll slowly understand that the man is just deeply interested and intrigued by him. Jake was suspicious at first because of the nature of his work but then realized it was not the case. It was all coincidental.

In ep97, Shin finally understood the extent of how deep Jake knows about Shin's past. Jake continues to surprise Shin on how deep he'll go just to know him. This begs the question why he's so interested in a mere street mechanic.
