I support this as a pedestrian, but also as a driver. When I pull up to a stop sign, an SUV or pickup can completely block the view. You either have to try to look through the windows of the vehicle or just inch up to into the intersection to see if it’s clear. It’s nerve wracking.

I live near the first stop on two bus lines. I learned early that I need to get there five minutes before the scheduled arrival.

Vomit-smelling fruit aside, I learned last year that most ginkgo trees drop their leaves very rapidly. Sometimes all in one day. There are some on my block and it’s cool to watch them go from giant yellow blobs to nothing overnight.

I found a feather that I suspect is from a Great Horned Owl, a pellet full of bones, and whitewash all over the ground in my go-to owl spot. Did I find the owl? Absolutely not. 🪶

I think that she was able to be portrayed as more progressive than she is based on her race and gender due to the total dominance of social media. The right was able to completely own the narrative even though Trumps positions were (and are) wildly unpopular.

I think it’s because times have changed. Yglesias has been a proponent of the David Shor “moderate positions to win votes” school. I think that the 2024 election repudiated that pretty clearly. I have changed the way I think about politics as a result, but I don’t think Yglesias has.

The polling in the NJ governor’s race it much closer. Sherrill is up low single digits. Not sure if it’s a candidate issue, or the national environment is not that great for Dems.

The article doesn’t say what the benefits of the program are except that it keeps more middle class kids in public schools. I can’t have an opinion on this unless I know what the stakes are.

I’ve read that piano ownership is way down, which makes me inclined to say it’s not 4. But maybe tons of people are getting rid of their pianos and they’re being moved by non-professionals leading to a spike in piano violence.

The B and D are on separate tracks on CPW, but they have to merge onto a single track to get to the 6th Ave line. If the B and D both run local on CPW then you won’t get delays from them trying to merge.
