I wouldn't be surprised if a President in the future chooses to demolish it. Just to thumb their nose at the sycophants that couldn't wait to donate $250M to build a monument to Trump's ego and curry favour with the Admin. $250M would have gone a long way on more meaningful endeavours. Imho.

Congress has become a figleaf for the admin. SCOTUS doesn't care about admin transgressions because that's Congress's domain. Billions in crypto to Trump. Massive deregulation to support doners. The gutting of every agency that matters along with records. SuperPacs.
I'd say Trump is winning so far.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

There are no merits. Using laser pointers against aviation is a fantastically bad idea, it will get someone killed and probably not who you want killed.

If caught and found guilty, the likelihood you will spend years in prison is high.

Hamas' attack on 10/7 was well rehearsed and calculated. It put Israel in an untenable position. It was a trap.
Again, we'll see how this peace unfolds and what shape Palestine ends up in. Israel, the US, and Arab neighbors will dictate that. Regardless, so many seeds of hatred have been sown.

Intent to permanently displace a well established and recognized people constitutes, functionally, a form of genocide. How a Palestinian state is reconstructed, or not, will be revealing.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know a "better" way to conduct this nightmare of a war with an enemy so deeply embedded. Books have been written by smart people. And you're right; by the numbers genocide has not been achieved. I would respectfully argue that intent to displace constitutes intent.

Your utilitarian argument is sound. But, at a moral level, I think the IDF executed a disproportionate response. Intent? For Netanyahu, that's obvious. For a good number of the Knesset? No more Palestine. Trump's admittedly demented ramblings about a Gaza Riviera suggest there might be some truth.
