Great news, congratulations!
We had the pleasure of contributing to Chapter 4 "Water quality of the Danube River and the Black Sea", coordinated by @mzessner.bsky.social, and we look forward to also holding the whole book in our hands.

Happy to see our new paper out in #WaterResearch! A pleasure 2contribute2 this collaborative effort led by Matthew Thornton & fantastic team at @bergthalerlab.bsky.social.

It highlights how much the choice of virus enrichment #method shapes our view of the #wastewater #virome.

(Photo by Dominik Kugler) 186 conference participants took part in the ExpertPoll. Candidate microbial parameters (measured by a genetic technique) across the three application areas, identified by participants of the ExpertPoll. The size of the circles is proportional to the number of participants, hence with the number of candidate parameters, for the given category.

💡Key Findings:
✅ Fecal contamination is a major factor in the spread of resistance genes – w/ strong local variations
✅Other factors, eg heavy metals, antibiotics, & river dynamics also play a role, but their connection to ABR needs further investigation
✅ABR burden in Lower AT rivers is low...
